I bought this to try to replace the lost filter basket in my beloved 1970s vintage Norelco 12-cup coffee maker. The basket worked, but it fit so snugly in the old carafe that it tended to overflow. I solved that problem by cutting slots in a pint-size plastic container to support the basket just above the rim of the carafe. That gives a path for the coffee to drain down the sides of the filter and also lets air escape to relieve the pressure. I can now grind the beans using the #8 medium setting on my OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder, giving a perfect 12-cup pot of coffee. I will return two other drip coffee makers, two single-serve coffee makers, and my percolator to the workshop shelf where the Norelco sat for some 20 years.

Very nice filter. I love how fine it is, yet it still allows oils to still flow through for superb flavor and aroma. I use whole bean and grind then put into this coffee filter for excellent flavor.

I have bought many different permanent filters for this coffee brewer, none compare to this one. This is excellent in every way and I could never go back to any other.

This fits and works great. So much better than the black plastic one my husband accidentally threw away while dumping out grounds.

This is was first purchase of this coffee filter. We love it! It is easy to clean and does not rip/tear anywhere like the filters you can buy at the store. I will definitely be buying this product again!

Coffee tastes so much better than the same coffee did with paper filters and it’s washable so more sustainable/environmentally friendly and coffee tastes so much better. Who knew ? You can we the oily sheen on top of the coffee in your cup. A very very fine amount of sediment/»silt» does settle in the bottom of your cup unlike paper filters so leave that last small sip, but the rest of your cup of coffee will be dramatically improved flavor wise!

So it’s not perfect but does work good. Unfortunately if you like strong coffee you will just have to add less water. If you add too much coffee it will ruin it because coffee grounds will end up in your pot. You will likely have to learn by trial and error like I did. I use Bunn coffee makers and they do brew a pot of coffee super fast so this could be the reason. Something like a MrCoffee may not have this problem.

Was looking for a ‘permanent’ filter for our Moccamaster coffee maker. Product arrived on time and did what it was supposed to do! Coffee tastes the same, grounds rinsed off easily, no grounds in the brew (I observed the hot water in the basket to confirm no overflow.Picked this one (Stainless Steel Coffee Filter — No.4 Cone Style) as the product specification measurements came closest to our filter basket size.Highly recommend!

I recently got an AeroPress at home, and loved it so much I got a second one for work. It really is the easiest way to make a high-quality cup of coffee. I actually don’t find the included paper filters to be much of a hassle at all (especially for cleanup), but I was curious about the metal disc and mesh-style filters might do as an alternative. Plus, sprinkling in few dozen uses of a reusable filter just means I’ll have to buy new paper filters a little less often. As long as you understand that ALL of the reusable filters have slightly different results than the paper filter, I think the GoldTone is the best reusable option. The most popular «metal disc with small holes» version is made by Able, but it sells for about $12.50. This one was several dollars cheaper, reviewed well, and looks virtually the same. Indeed, it’s very well made. It’s thin, so you could easy bend/destroy it if you tried, but it should hold up well to repeated use-as-directed, or surviving drops. Some people prefer a little bit of body (sediment/particulates) in their coffee, while some prefer a clean cup. I can go either way. The normal AeroPress method is quite clean — maybe not as much as a Chemex method, but you won’t find anything really sitting in the bottom of the cup. This GoldTone filter does allow some body through to the finished cup, but while you can visibly see it, it’s extremely fine and barely even discernable as you finish the cup. I have to think it adds some variation and complexity to the flavor versus the paper filter, so if AeroPress is all about experimentation in the first place, it made sense to add this to my brewing arsenal. I would say that if I was going with a coarser grind, I might use the paper filter — the GoldTone might just let water through -too- easily with that setup. I tend to prefer medium or medium-fine recipes on AeroPress anyway. One note: The GoldTone lets water through even faster than the paper filter, so if you use the traditional method, steep times of more than 30 seconds might be affected. Of course, using the inverted method defeats this problem anyway, since water cannot escape out the bottom during steeping. On the positive side, it’s slightly easier to plunge using the GoldTone versus paper (easier for pressure to escape). This filter delivered basically exactly as I expected it to. Although it’s an extra step to clean up, I could easily see throwing it in the rotation if I’m in the mood for a cup with more body.

The ones that come with the coffee pot lasted a few months, and the plastic replacements do about the same. It gets frustrating replacing things all the time. I hope to never have to replace this one, but if I do, I’ll update this review. So far, it’s worth the extra couple bucks.
