Description
From the brand
L’OR was born in France with the ambition to offer the finest selection of coffees to coffee lovers around the world. Each L’OR blend is created by a team of passionate Coffee Artists to deliver layers of flavor and aroma that touch all the senses for a uniquely engaging coffee experience.
What is crema?
Caramel-colored and velvet-smooth in texture, crema is created when hot water emulsifies coffee bean oils and floats atop the espresso in the form of smooth little bubbles.
What is intensity?
Intensity reflects a coffee’s concentration, degree of roasting, body, and bitterness. Not caffeine.
How much caffeine is in L’OR Espresso capsules?
L’OR capsules contain about 60-120 mg caffeine per capsule. It depends on the composition of the blend. L’OR blends with more Robusta have on average a higher caffeine content. Blends with only Arabica have on average a lower caffeine content.
One guys opinion. –
I had not had any plans to buy a pod based coffee maker again. I have a major brand that starts with a K and was never very happy with it. I prefer strong coffee and I always found the coffee from this machine to be weak and not pleasing to my taste. This machine popped up in my Black Friday deals and it had a sizable discount so I was a bit intrigued. The product description really went out of their way to tout the robust coffee flavor and brewing method. When I asked about the flavor strength the vendor again went out of their way to stress their brewing method and pods which they assured me gave good strong flavor. The reviews were uniformly very positive. Given Amazon’s liberal return policy I thought I would give it a try.Set up was a bit quirky. The instructions provided did not cover all the pieces to the machine and I was left trying to figure out how several of the pieces fit together. Specifically the empty pod collection container. I had no idea what it was and where it fit until I saw a completely unrelated diagram that gave me a clue of where it fit. In case you are wondering what I mean — there is a large hollow gray piece that is meant to fit behind the coffee output nozzles. There was also another smaller grey piece that was not detailed in the main instruction page and was referenced on a small separate piece of paper I am almost missed as it was stuck in the bottom of the box. So make sure you look for that.As for the main instructions it felt like they were designed to be language free and only use pictures so that they did not need to have a bunch of different versions. To sum all of this up — the instructions need a separate comprehensive section that details ALL of the pieces and how to properly install them. I also think that the usage instructions might need to be revisited and consider adding some writing in addition to the pictures. (No need to try and be like ikea with their ‘it will take you all day to figure it out instructions’.)Once I got everything put together and running I was impressed with how quickly it got up to temp and ready to brew.Very very pleased with the taste of the coffee. Even the medium strength pods brewed a reasonably robust cup. The strong version was excellent. It also makes a very nice Crema (froth layer) on the top of the cup. I have yet to try the espresso pod, saving them for when I run out of the others as a treat for myself.A nice little touch is the aforementioned used pod receptacle — when you lift the top to put in a new pod it automatically ejects the used pod into the receptacle. Nice usability design. So overall as a coffee maker I think it is fantastic. Minor downside is that because it is so easy to brew a quick cup I might end up drinking too much coffee.Update after one week:(Important) — as mentioned above, used pods are ejected down into the grey container. You need to pay attention how quickly the container fills up because it is easy to lift lever and have it try and force a pod into it and possibly getting stuck. (totally did not happen to me….)I think the water reservoir should be larger. I am getting about 3 cups of coffee before I have to fill it up again. Personally I think it should be large enough to hold 5 cups of water. Thankfully it’s right next to the sink so refilling it’s not really a problem. I just think it will be more convenient with a larger reservoir.Oh BTW — Make sure you grab the coupon that gives you a bunch of free pods. I almost missed that.(Funny side note: I saw the Vine reviews and I am a Vine reviewer, and unfortunately this had not popped up on my available to get list. -We don’t all get the same list of products available for review. So I ended up paying for it.)

After continual issues with alternate brand beginning with K, we decided to look at alternates. I love espeesso, and have had a machine in the past, but hated the work involved with it, so this espresso machine, using pods, and the great reviews (and price!) caught my eye. My justification for purchase was the high price of certain coffee chains that our family uses way to often, this machine would easily pay for itself in the first month, and then every month going forward. Plus the convenience of being able to make it anytime without having to leave the house. It’s a looker! I love the sleek black design, it blends well with most kitchen decor. As others have stated the heat-up time is very quick, with no noise whatsoever. The loading process is different…lifting the handle to load a pod, the loading chamber first rotates down (to dump previous pod), then back to up position for loading. Although very cool, I wonder how long long that will last. I would almost prefer to remove the old pod manually than have all those extra movements in there. My only other minor gripe, is the lid to the water bin, with the oval shape, it falls in easily if not seated correctly. The espresso itself is fantastic! A bit noisy as most espresso machines are, but that was expected. We have only had a week, but have ran it several times, and all uses have been consistent and wonderful (yes there crema!). I do not know if we will be using the aluminum pod return program that they have, but I thought it was good that the company was taking the initiative to recycle them, for now we are keeping the used pods in case we decide to send them back.Overall, we love it so far. The coffee is great, we have several varieties to try and looking forward to them all ?

I have been shopping for a replacement espresso and coffee machine for quite some time. Most are very pricey and do not offer the quality of brewing and coffee flavor that I am looking for. I was torn between Nespresso and L’OR. Nespresso is a popular brand and a lot of people purchase it but I still wanted something different. So, I decided on the L’OR Brewing System. Not necessarily for the ratings but for the functionality, brewing quality and ease of use from the research I did on the machine. Also, at the time of purchase there was a 20% discount on the machine plus you get 30 free coffee and espresso pods. That was a huge plus. Not many provide pods to try. The system is easy to put together. It has a hidden pod disposal so you do not have to throw away the pods each time you brew coffee and espresso. I usually have to empty it after 4 or 5 uses. It depends on the size of the pods. The system has 3 size settings for espresso and for coffee. The machine is intelligent enough to dispense the right amount of water based on the pod size. But with any machine the larger the cup size, the weaker the coffee, right? Not with this one. The coffee pods brew rich smooth coffee regardless of size. The espresso, I stuck to the small and medium cups to retain flavor. So far, this brewing system has been a wonderful change to how I make my coffee now. I have not been disappointed with any of the coffee so far. I have added pictures of how the brewer looks, the coffee pods and the disposal drawer. As an added bonus, after registering my brewing system, I was given a 50% coupon on coffee pods. And if you sign up with an email address you get 20% off. For some this machine may be too pricey and I get it. There are alternatives out there for a lower price point. But if you can part with the money, this is a very good upgrade.

We originally bought a Nespresso virtuo, but we had a hard time finding the larger coffee style pods and when we did the price was ludicrous. It’s not really saving much money from going to Starbucks or a local place when I’m paying two dollars for one pod. When I saw that this machine not only takes an espresso original pod, but also sells larger style coffee pods I was sold. I was a little worried that it was just going to add more water to the espresso pods to make the coffee but the machine instantly knows when you put in the larger style Lor pods. It automatically adjust and put the appropriate amount of water into the parts to make either a small, medium, or large coffee. The taste is rich, but it feels like a lot less caffeine and with a reduced thickness from an espresso. However, the flavor is more robust than a water down Americano. It’s really a wonderful machine, and I find myself leaning more towards the coffee on many days.Anyone who has reservations on this brand because it is not well-known should be reassured that this is actually a Phillips product.i bought this on a whim, and did not know it was a Phillips product. When it came, I was slightly, surprised, and pleased as I knew this was not a fly by night off brand product. The machine is a great value for what you get, it is not overly loud like some of the cheaper brands that I have seen. We bought a very cheap Nespresso knock off just for my husband’s office and that thing sounds like a freight train. This one definitely makes a sound that is audible but nothing too excessive.I’d recommend this for anyone who wants the ability to use the cheaper Nespresso original parts with the flexibility to purchase larger size coffee pods.

I have been using LOR coffee and espresso pods and the flavor, aroma and taste has been great.I did try coffee in reusable pods and so far the flavor does not compare. I am very please the the L’OR Barista, but part of the great coffee or espresso is in the quality of the pods.

Arrived quickly. Instructions for set up easy peasy. Easy to use. Makes wonderful cup of coffee or espresso. Variety of pods included. When registering, a 50% off code was emailed for ordering coffee pods — which is very cost effective @ $0.45 for a cup of amazing coffee.

I’ve had a Nespresso and a Keurig. Nespresso wasn’t bad and Keurig was just ok. But having this Lor really makes a great cup of coffee or Espresso. I highly recommend it.

So, for reference, I used to be a barista and own a Breville Barista Express. However, I have a new baby, and I need to make espresso drinks faster and in 1 step. This machine has been great. I never received the coffee bundle that is supposed to come with it, so I’ve only used the pods meant for Nespresso, but I haven’t had any issues. Is this as good as traditionally pulled espresso? No. But It still has a great taste from the pods I’ve used. It doesn’t have a frother, so I did have to buy an electric one, and I run that and then pull the shots once the milk is done. The pods are super expensive with how much I drink in a day, so I’m going to be purchasing the refillable ones meant for the Nespresso, and I’ll update how that goes once I have tried it.

Really like this machine. It is a little large but I enjoy the strong pods and like the flavor. Usually Espresso I do large brew and coffee I use the mid size. Not a fan of the light roast but a good overall machine
