Make sure for the first time use water and let it self clean, the valve gets clean and fully open. For the first few times it will take longer then usual. After that it works great..

I bought this from Amazon about 6 months ago. It makes great coffee in 4 minutes. It’s max brewing capacity is 4 oz, which equals 4 small espresso cups, or one small coffee cup.I use it around 5 times a week, and the handle is still not loose. I was worried initially because I use a gas stove, and I thought the heat from the flames might damage the plastic handle. However, the flames don’t get near it, and though it does get hot, the handle it still as it was new.One reviewer mentioned they couldn’t clean the inside of the pot. There is an indent around the base inside. I just take a paper towel, fold it in fourths and run the folded corner through the groove. All clean! The base of the pot has a metal filter/strainer held in by a gasket. Every once in awhile I remove that and rinse inside. I’m just starting to think about replacing the gasket.Update: It’s been almost 2 years, and I’m still using this pot almost daily. I replaced the gasket a couple of months ago, even though I’m not really sure I needed to. Everything about it is still solid. It’s not as shiny, of course, but I’m not drinking the shine.Update the second: It’s mid July 2020, and I’ve had this same pot for three and a half years, although I did buy a new filter and gaskets. I used it yesterday morning. It’s still in the same condition I received it in, although discolored like old pots get. Still makes a great 4 ozs of espresso.

It was a present for my husband. He hasn’t use his old dripping machine any more. The smell is wonderful and it takes minutesI don’t drink coffee but I can tell he is happy with it.

I took notes on how to make coffee in one of these at a party after having several drinks, then I got one and tried it out, and it worked really well! Here’s the instructions I followed:Mocha pot, fill up to ‘valve’ (part where container constricts), fill but don’t pack down with pre-ground grounds, but not the kind that are ground for espresso because they’re super fine and will come back up through the filter, put on preheated stove coil on high, and wait until the pot sounds like a jet taking off, and pour! And I didn’t write this part down, but I remember being told to leave a little bit of the liquid in the pot when you pour so if any grounds do make it into the top part, you won’t pour them into your drink too.

I have used this IMUSA product for several months and am very pleased with the quality of the product and the coffee that it makes. I say «coffee» because although the beverage is strong like espresso, the flavor is more like coffee. The coffeemaker is fairly easy to use, but requires some experimentation for your particular stove:First, you must determine how high to set your burner so that it boils correctly. You want it to make a gurgling noise with a little bit of steam coming out the top. If steam comes out of the pressure-relief value, then the burner is set too high.Second, to speed things up so that the whole process takes 12-13 minutes, I set the burner on High until it starts to boil. For 12 fluid ounces (fill to the middle of the pressure-relief value) and my electric stove, I set the stove timer to six minutes. When it buzzes, I set the burner to a little above Medium.Third, you need to take it off the burner once all the water has boiled out of the bottom chamber (the gurgling stops). Since I can get easily distracted, I set the stove timer for 5 1/2 minutes to remind me to listen.

Bought this to replace a similar aluminum unit which has become pretty fouled due to my tendency to throw cinnamon in the water. This one appears well made and will be easier to clean. Along that line the gasket is on mine is sized to allow very easy removal of the strainer. But it will also allow the strainer to occasionally drop out. But I guess that is better than a gasket so tight that you need to pry it out with difficulty like most I have dealt with in the past.

  7. GrandMomster

I have been using this pot for over a year now and love it. It has performed flawlessly and makes an excellent cup of coffee. It’s easy to use and clean. I was pleasantly surprised that the handle stays cool to the touch. I prepare the pot the night before, turn on the gas burner, set a phone timer for 4 minutes so I don’t forget, take the dog outside, by the time I come back in coffee’s ready!

  8. Nela

I like that you can clean the parts easily. With the electric coffee makers I’m concerned about the possible mold inside the container. The coffee in this one is very hot which I like Good for camping

  9. The Harvest Queen

I am very pleased with this coffeemaker. The flavor came out much smoother than a standard aluminum moka pot without having to be seasoned. The lid and handle are a little flimsy, but overall the price is a bargain for the quality of construction. Even after multiple brews, this pot hasn’t leaked once and cleaning is fairly easy.(For the folks complaining that they can’t get a sponge into the bottom groove to clean it, keep in mind that this style of pot should not be cleaned with soap and sponge. Rinse it out soon after brewing and wipe it inside and and out with a paper towel. Clean with vinegar if needed.)
