As a diehard Chemex coffee maker fan for more than 40 years, i needed something to travel with in our trailer. Something smaller, simpler and still solid. I tried the Bodum but found them too bulky and didnt enjoy the coffee flavor. This Agogo seems to be a blend of Chemex design and Melitta filtering. Grinding for Chemex allowed the water to run through the grinds too quickly but reducing the grind to Melitta size slowed the process down enough to wring out all the flavor in my coffee. I love the classic Chemex design and the inclusion of the polishing cloth is a nice touch. I bought the smallest size -6 cup is indicated on the graduations. A word to all those who are disgruntled about the number of cups claimed by the various sizes. Coffee makers are graduated in coffee cups not standard measuring cups. I believe a coffee maker “cup” is 6 oz as opposed to an 8 oz measuring cup.Update about using filters and grind. Whenever possible im going to use the Chemex CM1 filters (i think thats the number, its for the 1-2 cup Chemex) The metal filter stops only the grounds and not the acid and bitterness.

I was dumb and broke my chemex, so I needed a replacement. I bought a small Bodum pour over at Walmart for $19, and it’s fine, but there really aren’t filters made for it, so I had to use chemex filters and a wooden chopstick to brew, and I couldn’t brew much at a time. This pot is great, I can brew about 1.2 liters (1200ml) if I want to, so my daily 600ml is easy. It’s basically a chemex, so chemex filters work perfectly.

This coffee maker is as good if not better than the Chemex I just accidentally bought and for a better price.

My electric goes off when there are storms, when it’s too hot, or for little reason. I have a gas cooking stove so this coffee system has come to my rescue. I actually love the flavor and it’s hotter than my electric coffee maker. It’s easy to clean and easy to use. Think it will be a permanent replacement from now on.
