How to Make the Perfect Espresso

---|---|---|---|
To start, unscrew the top part of the espresso maker with the handle from the bottom part of the espresso maker and remove the funnel that nests inside the base of the espresso maker. | Next, fill base with water to the level of the safety valve. Replace the funnel into the base and fill it with ground coffee; do not press coffee down. For best results, use fresh roasted, finely ground coffee. The recommendation is to use a 6-to-1 water to coffee ratio. For each tablespoon of coffee, use 3 oz. of water. | Tighten the top to the base. Make sure the top is completely screwed on to the base before putting on the stovetop. | Heat coffee until coffee percolates to the top. Make sure the handle of the espresso maker is not over the heat source. Remove from heat and serve. Enjoy! |

i did my research before buying this moka pot. i got it in red with the six cup variation. i’ve been using this moka pot for a little over a month now. this is not the type of coffee pot to serve a group of family/friends. i love the simplicity of this pot. going into this moka pot, i read the do’s and donts to prevent any harm to this product, considering it sitting on a stove to brew coffee. i’ve always put the heat level for this moka pot at medium and it holds up really well. i only do a rinse when i wash the pot. it is easy to clean. so far, i used peet’s and illy’s ground coffee. my favorite is the illy’s bold expresso ground. i will try lavazza’s expresso ground when i get the chance. the flavor is nice and bold and the coffee gets really hot. i read that it is best to throw in already hot water into the pot to prevent a bitter taste from boiling from cold. this also helps you to stay more alert when the coffee is done and gives you short time to wait and turn down the heat to prevent any damage. i was told to be careful with the handle of the pot. as i hold onto the handle as i pour the coffee into my cup, i could feel a bit of a instabilty. my pot hasn’t gotten damage yet and i know it has been a month, but i’m still impressed that the paint looks nice.overall, i would recommend this moka pot for those who want something simple, clean with no sacrifice in flavor. if anything, i’ve had the best tasting coffee out of this moka pot than any home coffee machines. 5/5

Very happy with this. As mentioned do NOT put through dish washer unless you want to rapidly age its appearance. Goes from shiny to a dull grey. I actually prefer the ‘aged’ look as I use this camping as well as at home and it just ‘fits’ more with my complete lack of style. Works great, simple but ingenious. Use a tea towel or pot holder to remove and pour unless you are very careful or have small hands. Pot gets quite hot and boiling on the lower portion and … it is all metal except for the thin handle. Lastly, pour s-l-o-w-l-y like a snobby barista putting foam in your coffee. I have the smaller pot and I do not use this for espresso routinely. I fill the coffee part only a bit more than half way and the usual water. Stuff could peel paint (dark roast w chicory from Cafe DuMonde is my go to because I am classy like that). Makes using the white liquid of your choice almost a necessity but man do I look forward to it. Closest thing to over paying at some drive thru conglomerate you will find — except not burnt.Want to dissolve concrete? Pack the coffee part. Probably would yield three tiny sipping cups of a super dank espresso.Totally worth every penny.

This Primula Classic Stovetop Espresso and Coffee Maker is wonderful! Works perfectly and makes great coffee. I got the largest available model which makes 12 espresso shots which is 12 ounces of coffee at a time. Glad I did. Overall finish and quality is excellent. As other reviewers have stated, don’t use the handle to tighten or unscrew the top part. It is plastic and might break. Also, make sure the burner flame does not extend beyond the bottom edges of the machine, or it might burn the handle. Will not work with induction electric stoves because it is made of aluminum. There are special steel ones for that. It’s also just a very attractive gadget to have in the kitchen. Definitely recommended.

Makes a good string cup of hot coffee. Don’t overpack the coffee brings and don’t use too fine of a ground. Otherwise I for that it was easy to use easy to clean and the coffee tastes great. More like an espresso but I like my coffee strong like that. It is small and the amount of coffee you get is a small coffee cup not a big mug full.

This type of expresso coffee pot has been around for a long time. This pot is excellent quality, & I am very satisfied with it. If you have never used this type of pot — please be aware that when you screw the 2 parts together — make sure it is done correctly & tightly. (no matter what brand pot you use). I use it often & it cleans up easily. I recommend this pot. Enjoy.

The only way to truly appreciate brewed coffee is with a classic more expensive espresso machine. The Moka Pot comes in second but is a lot less expensive for good taste and no real long term maintenance. The Primula is less expensive than it’s competition and is just as good.

The coffee maker works well and has a classic design. Using cold water I can make a cup of coffee in just under 4 minutes. Am ordering a larger version of the espresso maker to be able to make several cups of Cafe Americano at the same time.

First off, I’ve had this moka pot since January of 2022, so for more than a year. It’s still working fine despite having at least one pot made a day; I just made a pot and have a cup in front of me, in fact. There are three electric coffee makers and one espresso maker which haven’t even been connected to power in over eight months as the moka pot took their places so thoroughly they weren’t being used. Some tips for making it easier to use the 12 cup version:1. Fill the water reservoir to just touching the bottom of the safety valve; you can do this easily by turning the pot so you can see inside it while it’s filling.2. It’s faster to brew if you start with hot water, but it’s not required.3. Don’t go higher than whatever equivalent you have for medium-high heat if possible; I’ve found it tastes bitter if it pushes the water through too fast.4. If you have a standard coffee measuring scoop, use four level scoops to fill the basket.5. Make sure you tighten the top down fully or else steam and water will escape through the seal.6. Turn the handle so it isn’t over heat; beyond whether the material can take heat, you don’t want to be grabbing a hot handle.

I really enjoy my “12 cup” mocha pot. This one is pretty big but not “12 cups”. I have to put water into the cup I’ll be using then put into this to make sure I don’t waste coffee. This is capable of making a very large cup of coffee.
