14 reviews for Ninja CE251 Programmable Brewer, with 12-cup Glass Carafe, Black and Stainless Steel Finish

  1. BuffaloNYanne

Best coffee maker this octogenarian has ever owned! Ninja is attractive, superbly designed/engineered, and constructed. Makes tastiest home-brewed coffee—I like rich brew feature. Big NYC newspaper gave 12-cup Ninja an excellent/best pick rating for this price-point. I chose 14-cup b/c of its narrower, but deeper footprint to fit my space. I read reviews, saw comments about pouring problems and leaks. After a month’s experience w/appliance, this is what I learned. To avoid leaks, all parts must be precisely seated in place: the water reservoir, coffee basket, and carafe. Water reservoir leaked one day (after many days of brewing w/no leaks) b/c I had moved coffee maker and dislodged reservoir. Coffee basket also must be firmly in place to drip into hole in carafe cover. Both reservoir and basket have spring mechanisms to control flow (look at bottom) and must be properly/firmly inserted to prevent leaks. Carafe, when filled to capacity, is heavy and this could cause pouring problem for some users. I brew only 10 cups and had no pouring problem. Takes about 14 min, yes, some steam and gurgle, but no more than my old Braun. I leave reservoir in place, fill w/jug, put dishtowel over steam vents to avoid cabinet damage. After unpacking (very carefully-packaged), I let it air out. Ran water thru daily for a week til odor dissipated. I think odor may be from adhesive rather than plastic parts. It will dissipate and not affect brew if you air and run just water several times before brewing coffee first time. Has auto-shutoff, keep-warm feature, and is programmable, however, I plug/unplug w/each use. It is the hottest—steaming hot—coffee I have enjoyed! Very content w/this purchase! And, if needed, replacement carafe and other parts are available at Ninja website. What’s not to like?

I have had this for a month now, so feel it’s a fair amount of time to render a review. This is my first Ninja coffee brewer. I read «tons» of reviews and also had a personal recommedation from a friend on the Ninja brand (not this particular model). I was looking for a coffee maker ‘improvement’ over others I’ve had., because I do love my coffee! This by far outsurpasses all of them! Granted, you have to start with a somewhat-good coffee — brand, grind, or otherwise. But this coffee maker MAKES Great coffee. I love the external / removable water reservoir — EASY to fill, and clean. Completely uses all the water for the amount you make. Love the easy set-up: clock and delay-brewing was a cinch to do. Love the included coffee scoop that attaches to the side — so convenient. Love the way the lid fits on and slides to lock — no chance of it dropping off when pouring. Love the «sides» on the pour spout in the lid — nice smooth pour, no dripping out over the side. Love the ease (and better filtering) of using your own paper filters vs the included reusable one. Love the temperature of the coffee when ready. Hot, but not enough to burn when you sip. Love the flavor options of classic and bold — never bitter, always like the first cup. As in other reviews, it is a bit noisy at the end of brewing, but what’s a few seconds of sputtering to start your day with good coffee? I’m writing this while my coffee is brewing … and it’s ready! Hmmm, I don’t think I actually heard it this morning. So yes, I love this coffee maker. In fact, enough to purchase another in the near future and put away … so if, (when) in years ahead it finally stops working, I will have another ready to go and won’t have to worry about missing out on a great cup of coffee!!Keeping in mind that not everyone will have the same experience or opinion, I do highly recommend this Ninja coffee maker. Enjoy your day — time for coffee!

I just received this after ordering it yesterday and ran one classic brew cycle with just water. Then gave it the old college try and figured I’d brew some coffee and see just how well this product lives up to its name. I’m quite impressed with how flavorful my coffee is, and it tastes bolder even though I used less grounds for the same amount of water I always used in my previous coffee maker. I’m always so quick to use the strong or bold button but I actually don’t think I’ll use it unless I feel the flavor isn’t quite where I want it to be with other coffees. Really love the keep warm option and that it’s programmable. Who doesn’t like waking up to fresh coffee? Removable reservoir is pretty durable and doesn’t leak. So nice that it came with a scoop and the reusable filter. However, I will be using paper cone filters just to prevent the finer grounds from making it to my cup.

Did a lot of research and looked at a lot of reviews before buying this unit a few weeks ago. Actually wanted a moderately priced unit with thermal carafe and 12-14 cup capacity…pretty much a non existent beast, so settled for this. So far has been a great purchase for me. Brews 12-14 cups (however much water you put in the tank is the amount it brews) in 12-14 minutes….about a minute per cup. Cleanup is quick, straightforward easy process. WEIRD QUIRK….if you refill the tank to be ready for the next pot shortly after it has brewed your current pot AND WHILE THE HOT PLATE IS KEEPING YOUR CURRENT POT HOT, IT WILL START THE BREW PROCESS AGAIN!!! This is even explained in the manual but seems like such an odd engineering design to me. So don’t do that haha! Wait until the “BREW” light is out AND the “WARM” light is off too!I had a Breville 12 cup thermal carafe Brew Station for 6 years….hard to break a stainless steel thermal carafe, even when dropped on granite countertop, tile floor, etc. I’m sure at some point I’ll find a way to break this glass carafe but it looks like replacements are easy to find and not too expensive. Wanted to buy another Breville (little things on my old one kept breaking) but seems like their quality has gone waaaaay down since I bought mine. Couldn’t justify spending $350 for a piece of crap. This thing brews a REALLY HOT pot of coffee, just the way I like it in order to enhance the flavor of the coffee you are brewing. It has the ability for you to program the time you want it to brew so hot coffee is waiting for you when you fall out of bed and stumble to the kitchen. Also really like that you can set the hot plate the pot sits on to stay on for 2 (default), 3 or 4 hours AND you can adjust the temperature of the warming plate for high, medium or low setting.I have had other Ninja kitchen products and been very satisfied with their build quality, performance and longevity. Hope for the $80 (I think that was the price) I paid for this Ninja Coffee Maker that it will live up to my expectations. So far, so good.

I was in need of a new coffee maker, as my old one sprung a leak. I decided to try a different brand, on a whim. My old coffee maker was a Cuisinart 14 cup. It had a lot of features I wanted to keep in a new maker. I liked the delay timer and the amount of time keeping the coffee warm is important to me. 4 hours was what I had before and what I wanted again. Searching through so many makers was fun. Lots to look at. What I settled on was the Ninja. It had every feature I wanted and came in a cool design. Getting the coffee maker, setting it up and using it has been a pleasure. The design is user friendly, well thought out and, dare I say, better than the Cuisinart. The carafe is more sturdy and easier to pour with no dribble. The brewing and water tank are separated, so no pouring cold water on new grounds. The timing and setup feature are easy to understand and use. The Ninja has two brewing styles, which the Cuisinart did too. A huge difference…the Ninja let’s me decide the heat level on the keep warm feature. I can choose from low, medium and high. The Cuisinart didn’t offer this and it’s quite nice to be able to choose. In all I’m very happy with giving the Ninja a try and would recommend everyone to give it one too. The price is ballpark for a coffee maker with these features. Believe me, you get what you pay for. Coffee is revered in my house so the price didn’t bother me. My Cuisinart lasted for 4 years of heavy use. I’m hoping the Ninja does as well.

Our old Cuisinart died, so it was time to find a replacement. Honestly, the $100 Cuisinart is good, but it’s also overpriced for what it is, and there are some features about it I never liked. This new Ninja is more expensive than the basic models, but to me the extra amount is worth it.Pros#1 has to be how good the coffee is. If it doesn’t do that job well then nothing else matters. I’m not sure how or why but this maker brews really good coffee, and very hot.The removable resevoir is great. That was what I hated about the Cuisinart, that you could not clean the resevoir and over time the little clear vile to show water level would get cloudy.Speed to brew is average. I think it’s a little slower than the Cuisinart, but not by much. The auto-off is a must have for me. I haven’t bothered much with the preprogramming but it’s good to have and I’ll use it.Looks great. We have a Ninja food processor so they look like a matched set sitting on the counter.ConsNot too many. I know someone else mentioned that even though there is a button for small batch, the maker still brews what ever water is in the resevoir. I agree that it would be nice to just have it brew 4-6 cups and then stop, but it doesn’t.

The water reservoir removes which allows it to be filled at the sink. The coffee pot has a central spout that delivers coffee to the bottom and so ensures better mixing of the brewed batch. There are multiple options for coffee strength including less than 4 cup. The coffee pot can be removed prior to completion without spilling of coffee. An audible alarm sounds when the brewing completes and the water is gone. The clock is easy to set and can be used to trigger brewing.-delay start. This is the best coffee maker that I have ever used. This coffee maker is well designed and manufactured. No there are no leaks.

  8. Calibamawife

I’ve owned this about 6 months now, so I can give an informed review. I absolutely love this coffee maker. It has a built int fine mesh type cone filter, which is fantastic, but I take the extra (unnecessary) step of putting a #2 cone filter inside the built in filter basket (personal preference). The coffee is great, and the pot stays properly hot for (2 hours I think?)- you can turn the warmer back on by hand if you want, but I’m generally done drinking coffee 2 hours after I brew. It’s a nice looking unit and easy to clean. I learned I am a fan of glass carafes as opposed to metal (my last coffee maker, I experimented with a metal pot), and I like the carafe and lid design.I love Ninja products, and this is No exception. I have had no operational issues with it.

  9. SkiMamaOfTwo

This is the second shark ninja product I have gotten, and I have to say that they are quite good. The quality is excellent and they last a really long time. This coffee maker has two brew settings and the coffee is delicious. I am a total coffee snob who had to give up my perk pot! Alas no worries, as I have really enjoyed nice, well brewed, piping hot coffee since I’ve purchased this machine. My husband and I read a bunch of articles and reviews and settled in on this one, and it did not disappoint. And unlike other reviewers we LOVE the screw in top because stays put when taking the pot from the machine and when pouring. It unscrews easily for cleaning. Terrific and great price.

I had a cheap coffee maker before I got this and I can tell you that this Ninja one makes the coffee have a lot more flavor. Even with the bold option on my cheap maker, it just tastes bland and very watered down. Now, I just need to press the regular option and it tastes perfect. I also find this coffee maker to look a lot better and like the water container design. You can take it out and fill it easily, as opposed to other coffee makers. It’s just more convenient this way. When it comes to coffee, you don’t want to cheap out. Get this one! It’s great!
