Previous coffee maker quit brewing after 5 years (very good in my experience). I had some features that I used often and wanted again in the new machine. I attempted to buy the same model that quit working, but the «new, improved» version was lacking several of the features that I was looking for (and had been on the «old» model), and the price had more than doubled. I was very happy to find this coffeemaker (has most of the things that I was looking for) and hope that I get at least 5 years of use (we use the coffee maker every day for 1 pot; sometimes on weekends we will make 2 pots)Features I was looking for:=12-14 cup capacity=option to make 1-4 cups (be aware that if you put in water for more than 4 cups it will brew it all even if the 1-4 button is active — I think all coffeemaker with this function work that way)=timer / auto brew / set up the coffee maker before bed to wake to brewed coffee — -[ previous pot let you set 2 different timers (we used one for week days, one for weekends) could set them and just select the one you wanted to use] you can only program one time with this model so have to set a different time if wanted — not a huge deal, but it was nice to have both times already set=stay hot feature longer than 2 hours (seems to be the standard) ; some would say coffee is not good after sitting more than 2 hours, but… ;previous machine could be set in 15 min. increments to 4 hours — — this model does not promote it, but can be set in 15 min. increments to 5 hours (and it does stay hot), if you do not press the stay hot button it will auto shut off after 2 hours=hot brew temps, my husband likes his coffee hot, and if you add cream that cools it a bit — — this is hot enough=reusable gold mesh filter — comes with it=»self cleaning» function /mode — put in the water & vinegar and press the button (be sure to run fresh water through a few times after the clean cycle is done)=decent size — — not a huge footprint on the counter or too high to fit under the cupboard so can push back out of the way=added plus is that it does not create steam when brewing — previous pot would release steam from top/back — — this coffee maker does not so if under the cupboard you are not damaging your woodwork—————————the clock/display is not backlit (it is black numbers on gray background) so it is not be visible in the dark, this is not a big deal for me I do not use it as a clock (lots of other clocks in the kitchen (microwave, stove, actual clock on wall); when I need to see the display (setting/changing brew time — only when I need to change it, setting/changing stay warm time (again not often) I have the room lights on and it is not an issue. The indicator lights for each function are green and easy to see what you have set-I did not have difficulty figuring out how to use it [be sure to press the on/off button when you set the auto brew and press it (it lights up) when you press the brew button if starting the brew manually or overriding the auto brew]After about a month I am very happy with this coffeemaker. I hope that it keeps working for a long time.

This coffee maker is well worth the money. This is the second one we have owned. The first lasted almost ten years. The coffee it produces is smooth and strong without the bitterness than comes from coffee makers that shoot steam onto the grounds. This maker takes longer to brew the coffee, fifteen minutes for twelve cups but the end product is worth the wait. The clock is tricky to learn to program but that is the only challenge I have had with this coffee maker.

Bought this for my dad for a Christmas gift. He loves it! And this is a guy who is hard to impress. Thanks a million!

This makes the best tasting coffee of any coffeemaker I’ve ever owned. Smooth tasting and nice and hot right after brewing—you don’t have to let it sit on the burner plate to get hot. I use the charcoal filters and I think that has a LOT to do with the great taste, but using them is optional. I have never cared for the gold tone filter that a lot of coffeemakers come with, so I just don’t use it. I much prefer paper filters, and this takes the #4 cone filters. Easy to program, VERY nice, sleek design, and as another reviewer stated, the pot slides easily in and out—doesn’t get hung up on the drip mechanism. It brews quietly, and it does not beep at all when starting or finishing. That never bothered me with my other coffeemakers, but I don’t miss it either-lol. I know some people find the beeping to be annoying. The green LED light came on when it was time to clean, which in my case was five (5) weeks after I started using it, so I expect it to always be about the same. So when I clean it, that’s when I change the charcoal filter—makes it easy to keep track of. A lot of people will be able to go longer than 5 weeks, but I have VERY hard water. I used vinegar, not a commercial cleaner, and it works great. This is replacing a Mr. Coffee that was really great—for the whole 4 1/2 years that it worked! Braun is a good name, a good brand, and I expect to get several years out of it! Buy it—you won’t be sorry!

Love this coffee maker! After 2 cheaper Mr. Coffees that I hated, I finally broke down and spent more for this Braun. I guess you get what you pay for, surprise surprise! First, I LOVE that the readout is LCD, not LED! The Mr. C had a readout that was so ridiculously bright, I had to unplug it in our tiny cottage because it was like a lighthouse beacon that you could see in the loft! And ghastly blue. This Braun wins on that score! Also, I love how easily the lid pops off. Which makes it easy to turn the pot upside down to drain after washing. Also, it doesn’t beep that it’s done, and then drain coffee all over the counter when you dare to try to pour a cup like Mr. CofLiarfee pot used to do! There’s nothing that makes a non-morning-barely-cognizant-before-coffee person want to curse a brand to the mountains of Shanghai more than a product that causes a mess BEFORE you’ve had your morning infusion of caffeine! It’s like the Mr. CofPassive-Aggressivefee pot had a death wish. It got its way. It’s been crushed by the trash truck and I’m not even sorry.

My second Braun and so far it’s as good as the one that lasted over 8 years

We’ve had Cuisinart coffee makers for about the last ten years, and I decided to go with something German this time around, and chose Braun based on their reputation. I was pretty disappointed that our programable Cuisinart stopped functioning after 3 years… seems like something like that should last a lot longer! Anyway, we’ve had the Braun now for about 2 months, and LOVE it! Braun is just so well designed, that it is a pleasure to use. There is something very pleasing about the tactile experience of this coffee machine. From the touch of the buttons, to the way the carafe smoothly slides out and off of the element. There is none of the wiggle and jiggle we used to manage with the Cuisinart carafe. The lid fits perfectly. As it sits up on the counter, it has the look of a high-end machine. The coffee is delicious. The display is beautiful. We have had zero problems with it. I actually originally wanted the stainless steel version of this, but couldn’t justify the price difference. The black is beautiful and I have no regrets.

This coffeemaker came equipped with everything I was looking for, very simplistic and easy to use.I am a huge coffee fanatic and it makes wonderful, great tasting coffee. I was using a cheap $20 machine after my Cuisinart gave out on me and there is just no comparison. It is worth spending the extra money!Do not hesitate in purchasing. I highly recommend.

I wasn’t happy with the quality of brew and pain of cleaning old school auto drip coffee makers and I wasn’t about to pay over a hundred bones for a giant fancy brew appliance. So, for the past few years I have been using french press for smaller batches and pour over (without any fancy gooseneck kettles) for larger batches, to great success. I was getting tired of standing over the stove to attend to the pour over kettle and funnel. So far, this appliance has been great. I think the charcoal filter helps just enough in the final flavor of the brew that I actually noticed an improvement over my straight fridge filtered water. Brew temp is solid and the machine is easy to clean, dry and put away (no appliances are allowed to loiter on our counters). Thankfully, you do not have to set the clock every time you plug it in before brewing, like some coffee makers require. Plug — power button — brew — enjoy.

I have had a Braun coffee maker in the past and used it for years. The carafe broke and we ended up getting a Mr Coffee maker. Big mistake, we went through 3 of them and they just didn’t taste right. The carafes were stainless with molded plastic on top and all of them keep leaking at the seam. Finally, we went back to a new Braun and realized why we liked our old one so much!
