This is an excellent coffee maker. Makes very good coffee and is easy to use. After brewing a full insulated carafe I checked the coffee temperature and it was 175 degrees F. That is perfect. After one hour I checked the temperature again and it was 162 so good heat retention in the insulated carafe. AFTER your coffee has brewed do not put the carafe back on the stand. If it is not on the stand, the top hole that the coffee brews through closes and helps the carafe to retain the heat. A wonderful feature. It has three brewing strengths and I prefer the middle setting «strong» but that is a matter of taste but the important thing is that you can adjust it to your taste depending on the coffee roast you are using. The auto-clean feature is great and does a good job of cleaning it out and keeping your coffee tasty. I have not tried the delay start feature as I prefer to fill the reservoir with fresh filtered water and grind my beans just before brewing. It has a 1-4 cup brewing button so if you want to make a small amount of coffee fill the reservoir only with the amount of water needed to brew and press this button before you start. Your coffee will be bold and not weak like many coffee makers when you brew a partial carafe.Bottom line is that it is a great coffee maker for the price and does as good a job as makers I have owned that were much more expensive. I am very happy with my purchase. On a side note. Before purchasing I read the reviews and some people obviously don’t read the instructions and then complain. Others obsess over things that don’t matter. There were a number of reviews complaining about the 1-4 cup button brewing all of the water in the reservoir. If they had read the instructions they would have understood the purpose of the button and how to use it. Those folks should just buy a coffee pod machine because they obviously don’t understand coffee. The coffee maker also has a small timer under the clock that tells you how long it has been since the coffee was brewed, up to two hours. I read several reviews complaining about it and how they didn’t need it etc. Well if that is the case, just ignore it. People can be so obsessive trying to find something, anything to complain about. So take some of the complaining reviews for what they are worth. It is a great machine and worth more than the price.

We had a Mr. Coffee’s of various designs for many years. This is the first time we went for Black and Decker Coffee Maker CM2035B with the insulated pot instead of hot plate. A bit more of a hassle because you need to warm up the pot and throw the hot water out before brewing so the coffee stays hotter for a longer time. I wonder if there is any real electric $ saved by doing this compared to using the hot plate design for two hours. Even so, you know that the coffee has its original flavor compared to heating it for two hours. I had also purchased the GoldTone Reusable 8-12 Cup Basket Filter, but found it to be too small to work with Black and Decker Coffee Maker CM2035B. It fits, but the B&D CM2035B coffee maker has pressurized nozzles which causes coffee grounds to spew out of the perimeter of the basket, especially if making 12 cups of coffee (and probably less cups). As per previous reviews having grounds expelling from the filter will block the coffee maker openings which then causes the brewed coffee to overflow on the counter. However, any coffee maker that uses only drip dispensing then this problem would not happen because of the gentle action. BTW I really do like the B&D CM2035B coffee maker and now only use paper filters with it.

We have had this coffee maker for only a week and it met all of our expectations. The product is easy to use when brewing a pot and is a snap to clean up before the next use. The coffee remains hot in the carafe for literally hours, which is long enough to get us through the morning, which is our heaviest coffee drinking time of day. Since the coffee is in the portable carafe, we can take it to where we want to consume it and keep it handy with us for refills (rather than having to get up and go where the coffee maker sits in the kitchen). It takes about the same amount of time to brew a pot as our former coffee maker did, so there was no effect on our usual morning coffee routine. And we like the feature of the strength selector (regular, strong, bold). The metal carafe is attractive, and we don’t have to be concerned about fragility/breakage as we would with a glass carafe.

I’ve bought over 2,000 products via Amazon and this one makes me happy… every morning. Of course I’m talking about my BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Thermal Coffeemaker! Let me get a few specific items out of the way. I want to address some specific questions that others have been asked and the answers that left me with questions still.1. NO, it does not come with a reusable coffee grind filter basket. YES, you can purchase one here on Amazon that fits perfectly and does a great job (I bought the GOLDTONE Reusable 8-12 Cup Basket Coffee Filter for a little under $8.00).2. Read this one carefully! The unit comes with a anti-drip or «stop» basket. This basket allows you to get a cup of coffee before the brew cycle is complete by automatically closing a spring-loaded valve when you remove the carafe (thermos) from the coffee maker to pour a cup of coffee. There is also a spring loaded valve in the carafe lid that, when the carafe is in the coffee maker, the spring is depressed and allows coffee to flow from the basket into the carafe and, when removed from the coffee maker, this spring closes, thus sealing the carafe so that your coffee stays warm in the thermos. Both of these spring-loaded valves can become clogged with rogue coffee grinds (especially if you use paper liners and they are not properly seated in the bottom or sides of the coffee filter basket and a few grinds end up on the outside). If this happens, you might experience overflow and get water on your counter. This is easily avoided by simply removing the basket from the coffee maker itself and washing after use (it lifts right out). Just be sure to depress the spring-loaded part when rinsing to make sure that no grinds are clogging the drip hole. Similarly, when cleaning the carafe (thermos) lid, depress that spring-loaded valve, and make sure water runs freely through the lid. This is a NORMAL thing to do when cleaning a coffee maker after brewing a pot, so I’m not real sure why there are issues, but these steps are not specific to this coffee maker and are standard cleaning practices.3. This coffee maker uses flat-bottom filters… NOT cone filters!4. NO. The carafe does not sit on a heated plate. The carafe is insulated like a thermos, but if you let your coffee sit for more than a couple of hours, you will need to (dare I say!) microwave your coffee. Do not be tempted to re-run brewed coffee back through the machine as it will eventually gunk up the innards! It does help to pre-warm the thermos before brewing. Simply pour in the cold water to your coffee maker first. Then, using very hot water, fill up the thermos, put the lid on and let it sit for 5 — 10 minutes. Then pour out the hot water and start the brew cycle with the empty carafe in place. Your coffee will stay hotter, longer.5. TIP-TIME! I find that using a re-usable coffee grind basket saves me $$ (aside from the obvious of having to buy paper filters). This coffee maker comes with a feature to brew STRONG and BOLD coffee (settings to increase the strength of your coffee by lengthening the brew cycle by a few seconds, therefore allowing the grinds to steep a bit longer). The usual ratio of normal coffee is 1 TBSP of coffee for each two cups of water. If I choose BOLD (which is the highest setting — normal —> Strong —> Bold), I can use 5 TBSP to 12 cups of water and still get a strong, great-tasting brew.6. Bonus TIP! You can use even less coffee, and get better flavor, if you grind your own beans. Either grind them just prior to making your coffee, or grind them at the local grocery store if they have the machine to do so. Coffee oils are sensitive to time. The fresher the grind, the richer the taste.7. Bonus TIP #2! Use COLD water! Never brew using hot water from the tap… I’m not Millennial enough to suggest that you use bottled water (those who drank from water hoses as a kid will get that reference), but the quality of your water will make a difference in the taste of your coffee. Nuff said.

It’s very easy to clean and maintain, the controls are straightforward. Nothing fancy, but if you’re in need of a decent drip pot that can make small or larger batches of coffee and deliver from the carafe to your mug at around ~155F (so not super-hot, but hot enough for us), it’s hard to beat this one.Nine months in, I’m happy with the purchase, even though (for instance) it’s supposed to remind you when it’s time to clean but that function doesn’t stay in non-volatile memory, I guess.(So, big deal. Maybe mark the calendar to run watered-down white vinegar every so often, in hopes everything stays unclogged, as in olden times.)

This is the best coffee maker I have owned. I am 63 years old and have bought a lot of coffee makers. I don’t believe there is a better one out there if you want auto shutoff and a carafe that works for over 3 hours. For work at home phone sales it is great. Make a pot and bring to my office and start taking calls. I don’t understand the negative reviews. This is the only reason I wrote my review. It is a good coffee maker.

First, I should start with a disclaimer that I am not a coffee expert. I have not tried out several different coffee makers, and I don’t really know anything about making coffee properly. One thing I can say, for sure, is that this is incredibly easy to use, and I am constantly surprised about how long it keeps coffee hot. This is an insulated carafe, and I made coffee yesterday morning, and it is still warm more than 24 hours later. I even put it in the refrigerator overnight and the coffee is warm to the touch but the outside of the carafe is cold. It’s like a thermos!

I’ve been looking for a lower power coffee maker that would run on our RV inverter for years. I finally came across this unit and grabbed it. It does everything that our more expensive Krupa machine does but only requires 750 Watts (I confirmed that with a Wattmeter). I really like the bold setting, the coffee is rich and flavorful. I don’t understand the bad reviews about it not holding the heat, our coffee is just drinkable when poured. Speaking of pouring, it pours very nicely without dripping, unlike our Krups. If there’s a negative it might be that it takes 16 minutes to brew a full pot with the bold setting on. That doesn’t matter to me though because I set the timer to have it ready in the morning when I get up.

It looks nice and takes up little space on the counter. This is my 4th coffee maker same model its easy to use and program. The problem I have with the carafe that gets so much build up of coffee it doesn’t come clean and the coffee tastes like burnt cigars. I would have just replaced the carafe but I didn’t know the model number so I purchased a new coffee maker. After several soaking in hot water and vinegar I was able to scrap the build up out of the old carafe so I will keep it as a space. The manual list a part number for a replacement carafe and the cleaning feature which is by a combination of buttons to start the cycle, was not part of the description but good to have. There is not a button that says clean like other coffee makers have so I was surprised to read it in the manualThe carafe keeps coffee hot for about 2 hrs then it’s cold, which my old one kept the coffee hot a little longer. I wish Black & Decker or someone would make a carafe metal on the outside and glass on the inside it would be easier to clean and I think the coffee would tastes better.
