The media could not be loaded. First off, I always buy my products for full price and never accept discounted products for reviews. My rating criteria is as follows. If the product works as is advertised and the quality is in line with the price then I give it five stars tentatively, then deduct stars for usability, functionality problems, flaws, quality, etc.I had previously had a cocoa latte maker, but it eventually quit working and evidently had also been recalled. It worked so well that I would have bought another one if I could have found one, even considering the recall, but when I couldn’t find one I decided to just try a new brand.The first one that I tried was Nostalgia Electrics HCM700RETRORED Retro Series Hot Chocolate Maker one of these Nostalgia Electrics devices. It was so loud that I thought something had to be broken. It was too loud to use in the kitchen; it just made conversation impossible.So I then bought this Mr. Coffee, and the difference is night and day. This is so quiet (the video shows the difference in noise between the two).Other than that, here’s what you need to know.Hotness: It gets the hot cocoa hot enough—I don’t need to throw this into the microwave to heat it up, like I did with the Nostalgia one, and sometimes the Cocoa Latte device.It doesn’t have a spout on it, which other brands do. That makes it harder to pour but easier to clean and is one fewer thing to break. (The cocoa latte, which I had for 8 years, had a broken spout once that I had to replace.)Mixing: it does a great job mixing, even though the moving part is pretty small. I have used the basket a few times and it does work as described.Cleaning: This is 100% better than the Cocoa-Latte or Nostalgia one for cleaning. The heating surface is coated with some non-stick material, and its amazing how well it cleans up. I would scrub and scrub on the other ones while this one can be cleaned with warm water and a paper towel.A couple things I don’t like are that this just heats once. The Cocoa-Latte would turn itself back on every 5 minutes or so, keeping its hot-cocoa hot at all times. This one doesn’t do that and I wish it would. I didn’t deduct a star for that, because it doesn’t claim to do that—its just a wish list item for me.Overall value. This is the trick part. Its a LOT more expensive than other brands. To me, it was worth it. The Nostalgia brand was just so loud that it wasn’t able to be used in our house. So although I recognize that this is very expensive, I believe it is worth it.

We like to make Abuelita hot chocolate which is made with solid chocolate. To do this in a hot pot with warm milks seems to take forever and we have scalded several pots of hot chocolate. With that in mind my friend suggested we try this. What a great recommendation.You can use milk or water. You can use powder mixes, syrups, or you can use solid chocolate to make yummy hot chocolate. This makes about 4 cups of hot chocolate. It heats it up hot but not scalding hot. We found that we needed to let it sit for a while or add some cool milk to the mixture in order to drink it. Of course, this gives you plenty of time to add whipped cream, marshmallows, etc and it will still be hot. There is an off button and sometimes when we think it is done, we will hit the off button.One thing we liked was that it came with recipes. Some were adult versions but most were easy to make and great for kids. There was gingerbread version, azteca hot chocolate etc. And that got us thinking about other types of hot chocolate we could try in this machine.The milk is spinning around in this machine as it is heated. We did take the lid off to look at it and it did not splash out and spin out. So I suppose if you wanted to check your hot chocolate, you could easily peak and see if it’s done. I don’t really suggest you do that though.To use solid chocolate such as pieces of dark chocolate or milk chocolate (such as Hershey Kisses), you put the suggested amount into the chocolate basket and add the milk or water and then hit the start button. It is really that simple.Additionally the clean up simple as well.Overall, I would buy this again and I believe this will have a place on our counter during the winter months. yum.

As far as heated drink products go…this is AWESOME! Love it!I was trying to make Matcha Lattes with boiling water and Matcha mix…still the Matcha Mix never blended well into the water/milk and I would have tiny green lumps. If I wanted milk I would have to heat it on the stove…more things to wash. I was using the Mr Coffee Latte maker and that worked awesome but I didn’t want to wear it out for when I wanted Coffee Lattes. I searched and searched…looked for the best price for what you get; I didn’t want a spigot that got clogged with gunk unless I used a special brush to clean it so that knocked a lot of the low priced makers out of the running. The high end milk frother/heaters only made a cup or so…not what I was looking for…Then I found this. Looked for YouTube Vids on it but only a couple and they didn’t go through everything…just a sales pitch. So, after looking at it for a week, I decided to take the plunge and buy this. No regrets — unless it dies suddenly.Just made a hot chocolate/cocoa drink — perfect. It only took a few minutes for 2 cups milk, 4 Tablespoons Ghiradeli Double Chocolate Cocoa mix and 8 chunks of 62% Scharffen Berger Chocolate…WOW! This is a not too sweet, slightly bitter, rich, delicious cup of drinking chocolate. Smooth, smooth, smooth, rich, velvety hot goodness in a mug. Just a bit of whipped froth on top…nothing like a proper milk frother would do. I know it will do a good job on the Matcha Latte tomorrow morning. I would also use this, with a coffee maker, for Coffee Lattes…no need to buy a special maker unless you like the thick, proper foam the Mr Coffee Latte maker makes. I’m happy with this.***I just made a Matcha Latte…Delish! No froth on top. Works great at blending in the hardest of powders to mix into liquids.****With the basket: I put Tea Bags into the basket, add water, big splash of milk and sugar, turn on machine and make Tea Lattes.*****Can serve them over ice!******Just made hot Spiced Chai Latte (canister mix)..LOVE THIS MACHINE! :)UPDATE: 6/20/2015 — Still works great! Drinking a hot Spiced Chai Latte now. LOVE this machine!

I have had this hot chocolate maker for about 2 months now, and love it. I hope that it keeps working, for years. But from the previous write-ups, I am apprehensive of the durability of the mixing system. For the harsh environment that the stirrer has to function in, I can see it seizing up, if not kept clean, and lubricated..That is why, you will see below, I am not strictly following the mfr.cleaning recommendations.Although this looks like an old fashioned coffee percolator, it is very well thought out. The sides are opaque, for easy measuring of the liquid. You sprinkle the measured amount of cocoa/hot chocolate powder on top of the liquid, switch it on, and in five minutes or less,steamy, frothy hot chocolate, just the right temperature to drink. If you make more than you can drink at one time, and it has cooled down some, then just flip the switch on again, it stirs everything up again, heats up to the right temperature, in a minute or two, and you are ready for another cup, this time it is even tastier than the last.Clean up is just as easy…. Rinse out the pot with warm water. Put in about 2 cups of cold water, and a squirt of detergent, turn it on for a bit, while the stirrer, washes the inside for you. Throw the sudsy water out, rinse thoroughly, remove the magnetic stirrer, rinse it under the tap, wipe off the spindle inside the pot, add a little dab of butter in the hole of the stirrer, and reinstall it. Now you are all set, for the next use. (Skip the butter, if you are not going to be using it, for a long time.)I have not yet found any use for the basket that was provided. I wish that they would have provided the hard to find frother, instead.I wish the cord was removable, The stirrer is difficult to pull off the spindle, without a rag, it should have a hole in it for extra gripping…I wish the manufacturer would tell you how, or where you could get the «frother» (stirrer) Or at least provide a part number in the instruction booklet.Nevertheless, this is a great little hot chocolate maker, I can live with the shortcomings.

This is perfect as a water warmer for baby bottles! I’ve used this a few times for hot chocolate, and it also works great for that, but the majority of the time I use this to heat up water that I then add to my daughters bottles. It’s more convenient than the microwave, and I can easily test it while its heating so I can turn it off before it’s too hot. I was looking into buying a formula bottle maker machine (similar to a coffee maker but for bottles) and they were SO expensive. I stumbled across this and it’s a life saver! When I do use it for hot chocolate, I love that it heats up really fast, and gets very hot! (I hate warm hot chocolate). We’ve owned this for a year now, and we use it at least 4x a day, and it’s still working perfectly!Pros: — Great for hot chocolate (blends it and make its really hot) — Perfect water warmer for baby bottles (or cooking) — Easy to clean — Well made (had it over a year, use it at least 4x a day and it still works great) — Doesn’t take up too much counterspaceCons: — None yet

I had the old Cocomotion machine that Mr. Coffee made for years but then the motor finally went out one day. I’ve been looking for a replacement for about a year now when I came across this on Amazon. It’s almost as good as the old version but the Cocomotion really whipped the milk or water really well. This one is not as good. Hence the 4 star review. Based on the instructions included, there was a part that you could order that would help with whipping but I can’t find it anywhere and this version didn’t come with that. I wish that I could find that somewhere.Otherwise, still makes a great cup of hot chocolate or even to just heat up some milk or water on it’s own. Still easy to clean but you have to be careful with getting water on the bottom like the Cocomotion. I usually follow up with water and dish soap in another cycle to clean it.It was cool to have the basket to use whole chocolate pieces too. Totally melted once the machine turned off. Shipped in good condition cause Mr. Coffee had this packaged well.*******UPDATE********I called Mr. Coffee and got the frothing dish for free, shipped it to my place so I can make this a 5 star review. Now I can whip milk for coffee too. I no longer miss the old Cocomotion.

This is my third hot chocolate maker, and it leaves the first two in the dust. The previous two were by different manufacturers and cost 2 and 3 times as much as this one. Neither of those two lasted very long. I would agree with the others that there is a lack of frothing with this machine. I called customer service and had the frothing disk sent to me for $11.60. Problem solved. I use the Williams Sonoma hot chocolate flakes with milk and the frothing disk, and it turns out perfect.I was a little hesitant at first, because it was noted as having a magnetic stirrer. The last machine I had included a stirring disk that was a centimeter or so above the magnet in the main unit. Because of the gap, the hot chocolate flakes get in there and gum everything up so that the machine wouldn’t function. Not the case with this one — the magnetic stirrer sits directly on the main unit so nothing can get lodged between the stirrer and unit to prevent the machine from stirring.Normally I do not think I would use the basket, but the included recipe book has some great sounding hot chocolate so I’m sure I will try them someday with the basket.

OMG — I love this thing. I love making hot chocolate with milk vs water because it is so much better and this unit does the trick. Easy to understand instructions, chart that tells you exactly how much to mix, you can make it with powder or bars of chocolate with water (ewww) or milk and I’m not kidding here…. It makes it the right temperature you can drink it almost immediately (not too hot). It’s easy to clean with only one removable part (the chocolate bar holder that is optional). If I were designing it I would have made the cord storage differently but other than that it is perfect. You can make 4 cups — enough for 2 oversized mugs in about 10 minutes once you turn it on. Almost forgot you can froth milk in this thing too. Awesome!

I have this product for more than a month and now I can say that this Mr. Coffe Cafe Cocoa is a very good product.I use pieces of «Lindt Excellence 90% cocoa Supreme Dark» chocolate in the basket with milk, and this machine does a very good and delicious hot chocolate.You can add cinnamon sticks to the basket without any problem.The frothing disk is amazing. With this disk You have a very good milk frothing machine. You get a lot of very nice foam. Works very good. Look the pictures.You can use this machine to do chai tea too. Is a very useful machine.Because of the size of this product, you need to be careful to clean it, but is not a big problem.This machine does not do noise. I like this product.

I was at a loss when I saw the Mr. Coffee Cocomotion wasn’t available anymore. We’d seen one at a friends house and loved it. So when I stumbled on this product, I was ecstatic. From what I can tell, it is virtually the same as the Mr. Coffee Cocomotion except this one includes a basket to put your own chocolate in. At first, I worried that it would be complicated but it is very simple. Pour in the desired amount of milk and add whatever chocolate you want into the basket, press the on switch, and minutes later it’s ready! So simple and so delicious. The one critique I have is that you can’t separate the pitcher from the electrical portion, so cleaning could be challenging if you let it sit for awhile. Also, the price (at $65) is pretty hefty. Overall, I couldn’t be happier!
